Preparation involved financial planning and budgeting given the current market conditions; selecting claves for feedlot potential from performance data and conformation; purchasing approximately 10 calves at a closed auction held specifically for the feedlot challenge; determine and apply the processing strategy, including identification, antiparasitics, growth stimulants, vaccinations, metaphilaxis and any processes deemed necessary; design the feed formulations, based on a raw material order list; mix the rations and manage their own feed store ,and determine and apply the marketing strategy and accounting and reporting on important financial indicators for a feedlot. They will be evaluated on various parameters, including average daily gain and carcass dressing percentage.
